CARSHALTON ARTS WEEKEND 2010
Part of IMAGINE Sutton's Arts Festival

Join us in celebrating the arts and the creative spirit of Carshalton by
taking part in a variety of events at Honeywood Museum and around
Carshalton Village
All activities at Honeywood are FREE throughout the weekend. All
children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. No pre-booking is
required
Creative Crafts and Family Fun
Drop in activities at the Museum throughout the
weekend
including making felt pictures, artificial flowers, masks and finger
puppets. Also printing on fabric, painting at our easels, finger
painting, fingers of fun stories with finger puppets, and trails
At Honeywood Museum
Artist Paint-Along
Local artist Julie Curry will be painting on site. An opportunity for
all to try watercolours and receive tips from the artist!
10.30am-12.30pm, and 1.30-3.30pm
Monoprint Making Workshop
Join local artist Abel Kesteven, and learn how to make a mono print
11am-5pm
Fuzzy Fingers
Finger printing fun and arts and crafts with Carshalton Central
Safer Neighbourhood Team
10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30-5pm
Cave Art Painting
How did cavemen make their paint? Join Sarah Dhanjal to find out and
to discover your cave art painting skills. Suitable for children 4 years
to adult
10am-1pm and 2-4pm
A Giant Mosaic
Join local artists Neal and Helena Vaughan and help create a large
scale mosaic inspired by the museum, its surroundings and a theme of
“recycling”. The mosaic itself will be a vibrant display of pattern and
colour that combines artwork created on site using recycled packaging

Felt is Fun
Get stuck into making felt with Sarah Dhanjal then enjoy a flowery
felt craft - suitable for children aged 4 years to adult

Secret Gardens
Join artists from Inspirall for fun drop in workshops - Help make
secret miniature gardens within large willow pods using recycled
materials
11am-3pm
Rag Rug and other Rag Work Making
A drop in craft session with local artist Mandy Dwyer - Rag Rug
making is a traditional thrift craft which dates back to the Viking
settlers. Rag Rugs are colourful, functional and can be made entirely
from recycled materials like felted old woollies, t-shirts and cotton
materials. Come along and make something new from something old. Using
traditional techniques of hooking and prodding and materials which would
otherwise go to waste, the opportunities to create and experiment are
endless

Honeywood Young Person’s Art Competition Prize Giving
Join us to applaud the winners of our art competition
Carshalton Water Tower Opening. West Street,
Carshalton
Come along and get to know this unique, early 18th century garden
building that is sited in the grounds of Carshalton House - See the new
Sham Bridge display

Sham and Illusionist Garden Bridges - an illustrated talk by Michael
Symes. There will be an opportunity to buy his fascinating book on the
subject

Carshalton House Guided Tours
An opportunity to visit the 18th century mansion now used by St.
Philomena’s School. Rooms are open for visitors. Meet at the gate next
to the Water Tower on West Street

Little Holland House Open Days
Little Holland House is the former home of Frank Dickinson (1874-1961),
who built the house between 1902-1904. The house has an interesting
architecture, and the listed interior contains Dickinson’s hand made
furniture, paintings, carvings and metalwork

All Saints Church Open Days. High Street, Carshalton
All Saints Church will be open for 2 days with displays of flowers and
vestments. This is an opportunity to visit the bell tower and organ
gallery as well as learn more about the history of the church. Also bell
ringing, hand bell ringing Saturday morning - Refreshments available
